Amateur dancers register and compete in predetermined categories based on skill level, age, and dance style. The dance competitions are adjudicated by judges accredited by the sanctioning organization.
The competition organizer or planning committee predetermines the value of an award ascribed to the final placement of a competitive couple in select dance categories. These are referred to as scholarship dances.
The funds that VSCF distribute to the competition organizer support the development of amateur dancers and their career goals. These funds help offset the expenses that may serve as an impediment to their progress and dance pursuits. These expenses may include, but not be limited to, entry fees, ballroom lessons, professional coaching, and dance floor practice time fees,
VSCF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing funds for competitive amateur dancers by accepting donations from individuals and corporate sponsors for ballroom competitions that are sanctioned by ballroom dance and dancesport organizations, such as National Dance Council of America (NDCA), World Dance Council (WDC), USA Dance ®, and World Dance Council Federation (WDCF).
Since 2016, Visionary Steps Charitable Foundation has delivered more than $200,000 in scholarship prizes and support for competitive amateur dancers.
